Go to The Gap(gap.com), The Bay (thebay.com) and
Lands’ End (landsend.com) and shop for a pair of pants.
Evaluate your shopping experience at each site. Compare the sites and your shopping experience based on all the characteristics that are important to customers when shopping online for a pair of pants.
This assignment requires you to consider all the elements that would lead a consumer to conclude that one website was particularly better than another. To that end, avoid providing superficial comparisons like “site A had 10 different styles of pants available while site B had only 7 styles available”. While that fact may be true, it does not provide any understanding related to the effectiveness of a website. The assignment is challenging you to consider what things make shopping online a better experience.
Hint: see Chapter 6 in your text (specifically pages 211-213) to help identify a few of the important characteristics to consider. There are many others that you should attempt to also identify and consider.
In order to achieve the highest possible marks, provide outside research to help support your views and be sure to cite those references.
